Just to be sure there’s no misunderstanding, here’s how a Top-Up Travel Insurance Plan works for any Canadian resident and for Snowbirds in particular:

Your Provincial or Employer Medical coverage typically covers you out of province for as few as 10 up to 60 days at no additional cost. After the 10 – 60 days you are on your own to find insurance. A policy you’d get that starts after this period is called “Top-Up Travel Insurance”.

Here’s How to Get the Top Up Coverage You Need:

Step 1: Determine how many days your Provincial or Employer Medical coverage covers you out of province. The last day is the same day your Top Up plan must start.
Step 2: Anytime before you leave on your trip, cover your first 90 days with the GlobalTrip Post Departure plan. You can get the following limits:
- US $50,000
- US $500,000
- US $1,000,000
